Hi, I'm Amanda!
Hi! I’m Amanda and before I became a stay-at-home mom to three kids I was a Hollywood Movie Executive who worked at some of the biggest movie studios in the world, including Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. I started off as an assistant to successful movie executives and producers and then I became an executive making big blockbuster movies myself. During my time working in Hollywood I had to be extremely organized, efficient, and work with grace under pressure while managing the behind-the-scenes details of making movies – all skills that came naturally to me as a “Type A” person.
When I became a mom a decade ago I was excited about my new title – “Mom” – but I knew nothing about all the behind-the-scenes work that was required in this new role! The only job I knew was that of a Hollywood producer, so when different parenting logistical issues came up, I decided to apply my Type A personality and my movie making skills to solve the problem.
I was thrilled to find many similarities between modern day parenting and movie making, and I quickly realized that my behind-the-scenes skills from movie making were transferable to the behind-the-scenes challenges of parenting! I found creative ways to address and streamline the different needs of my growing family and that meant I was able to spend more quality time with them.
Friends started to notice how organized and confident I was in my solutions to the many tasks of parenting, and they began to seek me out when they had their own parenting questions. I explained what I was doing to help my family ease the logistical work of modern-day parenting and they started implementing my methods. We soon noticed that my Hollywood solutions to the work of parenting helped my friends too, and that’s when I started to become that mom that everyone reaches out to with their parenting questions. I was excited to share my ideas because I knew that implementing them could help my friends free up more time to spend with their kids!
Through helping my friends I realized that I’m not the only parent looking to streamline what can often feel like an all-consuming load of parenting logistics. I also noticed that my friends had many of the same parenting workload questions that I had, and I loved the idea that my Hollywood-inspired systems and solutions could potentially help more families than just my own.
So, after a decade of parenting and becoming a parenting resource to many of my friends, the idea to formalize being a “Type A Mom” came to life so that I can help others – like you! – navigate and streamline the workload of modern family life. I will help you simplify the work of parenting by drawing upon all the experiences I’ve had implementing my suggestions into my family’s life and my friends’ family’s lives. It is my hope that these ideas and systems help you so that the focus of your time is spent less on family logistics and more on quality time together!
Thank you for trusting me with part of your parenting journey.
Amanda, your Type A Mom friend
